third shot fired [VOICE]

[BZZZZZZZT!]

Shit--! Damnit, I hate this damn thing! Why does it keep doing that?

[There's a moment of displeased grumbling before he speaks.]

Anyway, I've got something I was wondering about. Most of the monsters in this place only look like things you'd see in video games and crappy movies, but one of 'em-- hold on.

[There's a moment of fumbling and the post suddenly switches over to a video clip. The clip is only a few seconds long, but it clearly shows the Verdugo stalking about the residential district sometime around sunset. When the video ends, it cuts back to audio.]

That thing. Saw it the other day. That monster is something from my world, and I'm pretty sure it and its twin are the only ones there are. Are the monsters brought here like we are, or something?

Eugh. Not my idea of a day off... [There's a quiet shuffling sound for several moments.] 'Use this', huh? Nice and descriptive of them. [Another brief shuffling sound, and then:] Hello? Testing this thing out. [Tap, tap tap.] Hunnigan, if you're there and you can hear me, I really want to know what the hell is going on.

[...]

Nothing. Figures, doesn't it? Doesn't surprise me, though. Does this thing even work? It was just laying on the ground...

[...]

Well even if Hunnigan isn't here, someone has to be. Hey! Whoever gave this thing to me, you mind responding? I'm not sure why you brought me here, so some answers would be nice.

Kennedy
Series: Resident Evil
Timeline: Shortly before Resident Evil: Degeneration
Canon Resource Link: Leon at the Resident Evil Wiki

Personality: Leon's come a long way from being a newbie, idealistic cop. He's calm under pressure, able to keep himself focused on his job even when there are other things distracting him, alarming him, or otherwise making his life difficult. He keeps his overall goal in sight even if he needs to sidetrack or take detours to achieve it, and for the most part he carries himself with an air of experienced professionalism. Most people that encounter Leon in the field wouldn't judge him to be anything other than a focused, almost overly serious operative, if a touch more relaxed than someone in his position would usually be. He's dedicated and intelligent and overall makes an ideal agent. He has a strong sense of right and wrong and a solid moral compass.

Despite this, he's still entirely capable of being both overeager, far too earnest for his own good, and excitable. He is no longer naive and knows to take nothing at face value, but even when he's regarding someone and their intentions with a sane degree of wariness he's still willing to give most people the benefit of the doubt and assume that, ultimately, their intentions are good. Having matured since the Raccoon City incident Leon is capable of being far more laid back than he used to be. Not only is he usually fairly calm about seeming like an idiot, he handles people refusing to listen to him with a greater degree of patience and is better able to get his point across when he feels that he must. He doesn't take himself too seriously and it's not uncommon for him to engage in acts of self-depreciation.

On the note of being over-earnest, he's unusually quick to form bonds with others: Claire, Sherry, Ada, Ashley, Luis, Mike the helicopter pilot... All of these people he knew for less for a day before he began to consider them friends, and in the case of the several he knew for longer he eventually came to consider them close friends and dependable allies. Leon makes for a good and loyal friend and very protective of those he considers important to him, and not he's afraid to let others see this protective streak, either. It would be a stretch to say he'd give up everything for a friend, but he'll certainly go through quite a bit for their sake, and will go through just as much for the sake a stranger, as well. He's not the sort to let a bond with someone fade easily, and even if he goes for years without encountering a close acquaintance he's still quick to treat them as an old comrade.

What your character can offer: Leon is fully trained as a police officer and was selected to be a part of the Raccoon City Police Department's special forces, received further training in similar areas during his anti-Umbrella days, and also received specialized training to join a government organization under the command of the United States President. He's well-versed in the use and care of a wide range of firearms and none too shabby when it comes to unarmed combat or the use of his knife, making him a formidable opponent both armed and not. More important than the training, though, is what he's learned from everything he's been through. One of the few survivors of Raccoon City's zombie apocalypse and subsequent 'cleansing' (i.e.: eradication via the use of missiles) and having been a part of the very small group responsible for rescuing Ashley Graham from Los Illuminados and destroying the cult in the process, Leon has an invaluable amount of experience under his belt, enough that he's trusted to take care of dangerous and high-profile missions almost entirely alone.

He's been described by Ada Wong as being 'practically a genius'; while there are times when this is hard to imagine (such as whenever he's heard making one of his snappy but often lame one-liners), in other times it shows through clearly. He's skilled at solving puzzles both solid and abstract and can quickly formulate effective tactics against both single enemies and large groups of the same. His primary advantage in Discedo will be that he's utterly, completely, and indisputably human. He has no unique or inhuman powers that the chip will suppress and thus will not be crippled by its presence.

What items will they be bringing with them? Leon will have his clothes (sturdy shoes, tactical pants, a 5.11 crew shirt, a leather jacket), light tactical gear including a shoulder holster and a drop holster, a combat knife, a custom 9mm handgun with two extra clips, and a Glock 30 with one extra clip. He'll also have his wallet.

Third-Person Sample: If you'd asked Leon a week ago what he thought he'd be doing next Friday night, you could have gotten a resounding, 'I dunno'. Leon didn't usually plan ahead that far, preferring to let things happen as they did, and often left his schedule open. Ask him what he thought he would be doing and he'd have a few more answers: getting a drink at his favorite bar, or maybe seeing a movie with a friend, or possibly getting dragged out to some gathering, one comprised half-way of people he didn't know and had never met before that evening.

What he wouldn't have guessed is that he would have been in a ruined town he'd never seen, never heard of, and was certain didn't exist, in the middle of the wrong season, with no idea how he'd gotten there or how he was going to get out. Even more than that, he hadn't expected to end up fighting.... well, monsters. He certainly didn't expect he'd be trying to deal with one of Salazar's things that looked like they stepped right out of a sci-fi movie. Worse, this time he didn't have any handy liquid nitrogen canisters to dump over right in the ugly thing's face. He couldn't decide if it made more sense for this to be a nightmare, or for it to be real. At least in a nightmare he might have those handy LN2 tanks.

So he was doing the smart thing and running away as fast as possible, searching around almost desperately for something -- anything -- that would make these easier to deal with. It wasn't a search working out in his favor, though, and multiple times said search had been rudely interrupted by the necessity to dodge jabs from claws and bladed tail. Leon, idly, wondered if the things remembered him, given how diligently it was pursuing, and that had him wondering if it was the 'right hand' that had seen sent after him or the one that had stayed at Salazar's side. Not that it made much of a difference -- it seemed hellbent on killing him, but Leon, at least, was just as determined to outlive it. Again.

He thought he'd give almost anything to have his shotgun from the merchant back, but he'd surrendered it to his employers ages ago, and not evne his glock was going to serve him well against these things. It was a pain in the ass, but he'd have to find another way.

First-Person Sample: I was supposed to be getting a vacation, this time, getting a chance to let my job be normal. As normal as it can be, at least. It's been more than half a year since Spain and nothing out of the ordinary has happened. Not that it's been boring or calm -- I don't think it's possible for it to be like that when you're guarding the President's wife and daughter. But it's been routine and aside from a scare at Ashley's college that hasn't changed at all.

This place, though.... Maybe it's because I don't know how I got here, but I've got the feeling this is going to be worse than Spain was. Maybe even worse than Raccoon City, or at least for me. This place looks like it already got hit with a missile or two, though at least there's more than just a crater left. Still room left for people to live, if they've gotta.

But just because I could live here doesn't mean I want to, or think it's a good idea. I need to figure out where this place is, and then I need to get out of here.
